SAOIRSE RONAN HAS been banging out hit film after hit film, and somehow she still finds the time (and the energy) to keep all of her interviews on publicity tours consistently funny and fresh.

Yesterday, she spoke to New York radio station SiriusXM and the interview is definitely worth a watch. However, it’s Christmas Eve and there’s turkeys that need to be cooked and kids that need to be bathed and put to bed, so if you don’t have an abundance of free time to sit around listening to Saoirse Ronan chat about what she’s up to, we’ve compiled a quick roundup. 

1. Saoirse’s favourite Spice Girl (and the one she identifies most with) is Ginger Spice.

You can tell a lot about someone’s role in a friend group based on which Spice Girl they insist on being. The bossy, demanding friend is always Baby Spice, the lesbianis always Sporty Spice (trust me, I have been given the role of Sporty Spice consistently for 20 years now), the friend who drinks way too much is always Scary Spice, the one who’s more concerned about Instagram than actually enjoying their night out is Posh Spice.  The laid back gal who’s easygoing and happy enough to take whatever Spice Girl is left at the end is always Ginger Spice. 

Are we surprised that Saoirse’s Ginger Spice? Frankly, no. Saoirse said that she believes Geri Haliwell “is the one who’s kinda leading the pack.” In fairness, she’s not really wrong. 

2. Saoirse’s horse in Mary Queen of Scots was also Wonder Woman’s horse.

3. The horse also kinda hated Saoirse Ronan.

I got to ride Wonder Woman’s horse and he’s the diva. He was our diva on set. He just wouldn’t do anything. He was like, I just couldn’t be arsed doing anything for ya. He knew I wasn’t a horse master by any means and he totally played on that. Then, like, he’d be really cocky the whole time and he wouldn’t do anything but when he would do it, it would be perfect. He’d just pick his moments. 

At one stage, he got really nervous and there were certain scenes we would do where he’d get a bit anxious beforehand and you wouldn’t be able to tell until they said, “Rolling!” and as soon as they said it, he had a nervous cough. 

Of course Saoirse then went on to do an impression of the horses cough that he did before each take. 

He was just trying to get the jitters out. 

He could definitely tell I wasn’t Wonder Woman.

He was the best horse and he would do everything that Camilla (the horse master) would ask of him, but when I was like, “C’mon Prince!” He’d be like, “Can you stop?” 

4.  Saoirse’s gonna star in a new film with Kate Winslet called Ammonite.

5. It’s about a paleontologist who ends up being the caretaker of a wealthy woman in London. Kate Winslet’s playing the paleontologist, and Saoirse’s playing the wealthy woman from London. 

After spending a few weeks together, the two women develop a really intimate relationship and eventually become lovers. Sounds a bit like Carol, tbh. 

6. Saoirse thinks that Kate Winslet is the soundest person in Hollywood.

What I find so incredible about her is that she’s been in the game longer than anybody else, and she is the most normal out of anybody else. 

7. Filming just wrapped up for Little Women!

It’s due out next year, but the team (Greta Gerwig, Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh and Eliza Scanlen) managed to finish up just in time for Christmas. Now we wait!

8. Saoirse genuinely believes it’s going to be her best film yet. 

It was amazing. It’s been wonderful to watch [Greta] take on this huge film. I don’t think any of us realised until we were in it, just how big it was. There’s a lot of film there. She’s just been wonderful – again, just like Lady Bird, she knows exactly what she’s gonna do with it. You just know it’s in really safe hands. 

It’ll be brilliant. And I never say that about a film I’m in, but it’s special. I know it’s really special.
